This paper was for CCHE 600, Leadership skills. For this assignment, I read the book "Drive" by Daniel Pink. This book is all about intrinsic motivation and how us as humans are motivated and how we can lead effectively and make an impact on those around us. The three main points that I discuss in this paper are autonomy, mastery, and purpose. I use these three ideas to help guide me as a leader and create an action plan to develop and define my leadership style and strategy.
In this short essay for CCHE 687, Professional Development Seminar, I take a deep dive into effective student learning and look at course evaluations may not always be the best measure when trying to decide if a student is on the right track. Specifically, I looked at NAU and how they judge student learning and what they consider a succesful outcome. My suggestion was that there should be focus groups as well as student surveys to gain a wide variety of feedback so that you have more to work with rather than a quick course evaluation at the end of the semester.
This is the syllabus for the class I created for CCHE 640, Curriculum Construction in Community College. I created a 7 week course on exercise technique and coaching. There are a lot of people that want to work in strength and conditioning but struggle to see and coach what a person may be doing wrong. In order to jump start their career, I wanted to create this course so that they can get more hands on experience under their belt and learn the ins and outs of effective coaching while taking a closer look at movement patterns and biomechanics.
